Pitch Perfect 2 helped me understand why other people seem to enjoy any mindless exploding cars movie that Hollywood sends their way. I’m going to like any movie full of a cappella singing, maybe some dancing, and a high-stakes competition at the climax. Throw in some witty one-liners, and I’m sold. It doesn’t matter if the plot and characters are formulaic and uninspired, I’m guaranteed not to notice. I’ll leave the theater with a dumb-happy smile on my face every time.
That said, I’m not the person to offer an unbiased review of this movie. But if you’re one of my tribe, then I promise Pitch Perfect 2 will have you dancing in your seat, suppressing the desire to sing along, and wishing global a cappella competitions were a real thing.
It’s still aca-awesome!
